Description

This is a remote start module that connects to the Volvo Telemetry Module.

Installation requires only four wires to be connected.

  1. CAN high
  2. CAN low
  3. Power
  4. Ground

This module allows you to activate the standard algorithm of warming up your car by triple pressing the door lock button on the original key fob of your car.

In this case, the car will be put into the mode (as if it was turned on via the Volvo on call mobile app).

Compatible with Volvo vehicles:

Setup

To install this module, you can go to any service station, and this operation can be performed by any specialist familiar with car electrics. However, it is important to note that self-installation is also not very difficult, thanks to clear instructions and only four connections to the car harness.

In case of difficulties, it is still necessary to seek the help of professionals. This will ensure the correct operation of the module and your confidence in its reliability.

Step-by-step guide

Step 1: Remove the decorative trim along the passenger door sill plate

To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Carefully inspect the plastic trim pieces along the right passenger door sill.
2. Use a suitable tool or a plastic spatula to carefully detach the trim from the fasteners.
3. Gradually work your way along the trim to release it from the fasteners.

Pay attention to any possible rivets, latches holding the overlay in place. Be careful not to damage any plastic components or the vehicle bodywork while removing the trim.

Step 2: Accessing the wiring harness

Follow the steps below to access the wiring harness going into the door:

  1. Pull back the carpeting for convenience.
  2. Locate the insulated wiring harness running from the passenger seat area to the door.

These steps will help you easily locate and access the harness you need. Please remember that it is important to use caution when performing these steps to avoid damage to existing components and to ensure the safety of the installation process. If you have difficulties or questions, it is recommended that you contact a professional

Step 3: Remove the duct tape from the harness.

  1. Use a sharp knife or scissors to carefully cut the tape along the harness.
  2. After cutting, gently pull the tape away from the cable, freeing the harness.

Now that the duct tape has been removed, you will be able to access the wires for further action. Be careful to avoid damaging the wires in the process.

Step 4: Identify the CAN wires

  1. Look closely at the harness and look for a pair of twisted wires: purple-white and/or purple-green.

  2.

Note: that there may be two pairs of twisted purple-white and/or purple-green wires in the harness.

  3.

Choose one of the pairs, but be sure to use wires from the same pair. Do not connect wires from different pairs.

This is important to ensure proper system operation.

Step 5: Connect the CAN wires

  1. Take the orange-white wire (CAN+) from the RES-VS cable and connect it to the violet-white wire (CAN+) of your vehicle.

  2. Take the green-white wire (CAN-) from the RES-VS cable and connect it to the purple-green wire (CAN-) of your vehicle.

Carefully connect the wires using solder, without cutting the main wire, but only stripping the insulation at the intended connection point. Insulate the connection securely to ensure safe and secure connections.

Step 6: Connecting the power supply

  1. Locate the red wire in the RES-VS cable.

  2. Connect the red wire from the RES-VS cable to the red wire in the vehicle harness using solder and without cutting the main wire, only stripping the insulation at the intended connection point.

  3. Insulate the connection securely with duct tape to ensure stable and safe connections.

Pay special attention to the insulation of this wire!

Step 7: Connect the ground

  1. Locate the black and white wire that is connected to the body bolt on your vehicle.
  2. Connect the black wire from the RES-VS cable to the black and white wire that is connected to the specified bolt, using solder and without cutting the main wire, but only stripping the insulation where you want to make the connection.
  3. You may also use a ring lug to connect the RES-VS ground wire to the specified vehicle body bolt.

Step 8: Connect the module

  1. Plug the RES-VS connector into the previously connected vehicle wiring harnesses.
  2. Check that the connections are tight and free of play.
  3. Ensure that the locking mechanism is open, ensuring a secure connection.

Step 9: Check the operation of the remote start before reassembling the vehicle

  1. Make sure your vehicle is in a safe place to start the engine. Make sure the fuel level in your vehicle is at least 1/4 tank. Close all doors and make sure all windows are fully closed.
  2. While in the vicinity of the vehicle, press the close button on your key fob three times to activate the remote start. The vehicle should blink three times. This means that the auto start is successful.
  3. Please note that you will only be able to perform two remote starts, each lasting at least two minutes before traveling. Once the car has warmed up and the interior has reached the temperature set in the climate control settings, it will automatically turn off with a light signal.
  4. If you wish to remotely turn off the autostart, press the close button 3 times. The vehicle will then give a double light signal and switch off.

Step 10: Check the transfer of control to the key

  1. With remote start enabled, unlock and enter the vehicle with the key fob.
  2. Switch on the ignition. The instrument panel will activate.
  3. Check the gear shift. If the gears shift without problems, this indicates that the transfer of control to the key has been successful.
